INFORMATION
The canteen at VFW Ship 4084 is the heart of our post — a welcoming and lively gathering place where members, guests, and event attendees can relax, share stories, and enjoy good company. Our bartenders and staff are the backbone of this space, known for their friendliness, professionalism, and commitment to making every visit memorable. Each bartender is fully trained and certified, ensuring that every guest receives attentive, responsible, and courteous service.
Our bartenders work for tips only, and we strongly encourage guests to show their appreciation through tipping during events and regular visits. Every tip goes directly to the bartenders who dedicate their time and energy to creating a safe, enjoyable, and community-minded environment.
Please note that the canteen is not a rentable space, but it remains open during hall, backyard, and select parking lot rentals as part of those event experiences. Should a group wish to have the canteen opened earlier than normal hours, an additional fee is applied to cover staff time. After 9:00 PM, guests under the age of 21 are not permitted within the canteen area in accordance with state and post policy.
Membership access to the canteen follows veteran organization licensing and state permit requirements. Members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Disabled American Veterans (DAV), active-duty service members, and other recognized veteran non-profits are welcome into the facility without signing the guest book. However, non-members — including community guests — must be sponsored by a member in good standing and be personally known to that member. Our licensing does not allow open public access to the canteen, as it is a veteran-designated facility operating under specific veteran organization permits.
Beyond private events, the canteen also serves as a central hub for monthly community activities. Every other Friday (non-flex weeks), guests can enjoy karaoke, music bingo, trivia nights, and other themed events that bring members and visitors together for a fun evening. On Wednesday evenings, the Ship hosts a delicious dinner for $12 per plate, offering a great opportunity to enjoy a home-cooked meal, meet fellow members, and support the post.
At Ship 4084, the canteen is not a bar — it’s a cornerstone of camaraderie, laughter, and shared purpose. Whether you’re attending an event, dropping by for dinner, or joining in a Friday night activity, our canteen staff will make you feel right at home.
